#RPGaDAY 2017 – Day 6

You can game every day for a week. Describe what you’d do!

You can game every day for a week. Describe what you’d do!

I’m torn.

On the one hand I’d love to dip into a different game every day.  Maybe an iconic game from the seven ages of roleplaying, in chronological order. There are seven right? Well, for the purposes of this, there will be. It doesn’t have to be a classic and age-defining game, but something contemporary from each age that I haven’t played before, stretching back to the early days of D&D, all the way up to the bleeding edge of tabletop … whatever the bleeding edge is. Probably something Swedish?

I wonder now what the ages are, and what the games filling the slots should be. Suggestions welcome.

On the other hand, I’d love to indulge in a full-scale epic campaign. Seven days of unbroken, escalating and climactic saga. With characters starting from zero with a chance of progressing through to almost godlike hero. Or whatever the equivalent in the game might be. I’ve a soft spot always for WFRP, but I’d love to try it with something more modern, like Unknown Armies, perhaps charting the ascension of an unwitting avatar. Or, in the future, maybe something sci-fi, like the hopefully still upcoming Elite RPG, or something set in the Serenity verse.

Maybe I could combine the two. Epic campaign blocks during the day. One-shots in the evenings.

It’s hard to beat playing with people face-to-face, but I’d also be excited to play with folks across the world in different time zones.  I suspect there’s also a lot more to be had from online gaming that can turn it into a radically different and immersive playing experience. I could take an intensive week of pushing those boundaries too.

Do I have to do anything else in this week – like eat, sleep, and attend to other matters of a personal nature? And can I get a week off afterwards to recover?
