I’ve done more gaming in 2017 than I can remember – either for that year or before. At this point it feels a bit like trying to count a giant treasure hoard. Here are some numbers I can just about manage.
Which RPG have you played the most since August 2016?
This is the story of Míriel, Warden Elf of Mirkwood. After three seasons of play, she’s evolved in ways that I hadn’t entirely expected in response to the narrative of an epic campaign.
I found it simultaneously easy and hard to create a character for The One Ring. The easy bit was fleshing out a rich backstory with the wealth of flavourful hooks provided in the rulebook. The hard bits are deciding where to start, and then how to customise your character as they advance, picking options from the myriad of delicious choices available.
I have the pleasure of playing in an excellent campaign of The One Ring, which has just finished its third season. There are elements to it that I’m really beginning to enjoy, which I didn’t appreciate quite so much when we originaly got started. The long-form play has really let the system and setting shine, in a way that doesn’t happen in one-shots or weekend runs.
