Prologue
How the party came to be travelling from Delberz through the Drakwald Forest to Altdorf via the Middenheim Road.
Delberz is a prosperous mercantile town known for its wine. Most of the characters hail from the surrounding villages or the town itself. Artur is from Altdorf, the capital of the Empire, and is on his way back from an errand trip to Delberz.
Ehrhardt Falken has found himself beholden to some bad sorts who helped him get away from his village after a stroke of rotten misfortune a few months ago. That’s where he met Sighard ‘Siggy’ Tinstern, who is loosely affiliated with the gang, dubbed the Five Sisters after the local hill range around which is their hunting ground.
Things got a bit messy earlier today at a local coaching inn, when the gang tried to press Falken into doing something he wasn’t comfortable with, insistent that it was time to “pay his dues”. Fritschold ‘Fritz’ Dustfeller, casually minding his own business at the bar, stepped in to defend him, staving off any immediate repurcussions. Outnumbered, they’ve been forced to get going before the gang changes its mind.
Siggy – not entirely happy with how things have turned with the gang, who have been increasingly violent of late – takes the opportunity to slip out with Fritz and Falken, and they head off on the road to Altdorf.
Fearing a bloody ruckus, a number of the inn’s patrons take their leave before the gang’s pent-up anger manifests. Artur Stolz is one of them, stepping up quickly to catch up with the group up as the forest road winds on. Safety in numbers seems most wise as you hasten your way through the Drakwald before night falls.

Curious village lad from near Delberz. Surprised himself, his family and community when the winds of magic blew from him a bit hard and rotted the harvest. No longer welcome back home. Fell in – and then out – with some bad company. Human, 17, illiterate.

- Motivation: Didactic. Pursuing and sharing knowledge enrichens the soul and is the pragmatic way to advance society.

Gang kid with principles. Made some bad choices in the past, but wants to be his best self. Has ‘baggage’ at home (near Delberz). Human, 17, illiterate.
